With Xenoverse 2’s release date of October 25, 2016 quickly approaching, many problems have arisen. Whether it be how something looks or how a certain mechanic works, everyone has their problems. These range from things such as character creation all the way to the roster, which are the two major problems. We here at The Time Nest would like to note that these problems are based on leaks and early build footage and may be subject to change. Problem 1: The Roster A recent leak has shown that there are at least 87 playable characters in Xenoverse 2. With the 58 (59 including the Created Character) characters from the original game returning, fans were expecting even more added to an already abundant roster. But almost the exact opposite happened. “Roster choice [is a major problem].” said by twitter user @T-Dub_Gaming when asked what their biggest problem with the game as of yet was. To elaborate on the meaning of this, we need to take a look at the actual revealed roster of Xenoverse 2.
That’s not the only problem though. One other major problem the fans have is the lack of character transformations. What this means is that for any character that is not a Super Saiyan their transformation is another character. Freeza has 3 of his usual 5 forms (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Final and 100%) and each is a different character slot. Many fans wanted more of Cell in the last game since we only got his Perfect and Super Perfect forms. Their wish was granted with the inclusion of Imperfect Cell. But much like Freeza, he did not get all of his forms and they are all still separate characters. Even characters like Great Saiyaman and Saiyawoman who were variations of their base characters (Gohan and Videl) are considered their own individual characters now. The third major problem people have with Xenoverse 2 is the lack of certain characters. Many fans feel cheated by the fact that ‘Villainous Forms’ and transformations got their own slots, but not characters people really want. The community as a near whole is crying out ‘Lies!’ at the words of Bandai Namco and Dimps who promised ‘The Most Detailed’ Dragon Ball game ever. People in the community have taken polls and made videos talking about characters they want. While some characters have been put in, many are questioning the lack of others. A lot of fans have cried out for an inclusion of Super Boo’s alternate forms. “I’d like to add the many absorptions of Super Buu. (Buuhan, Buutenks, Etc.)” said twitter user @MrNinjaStar75 when asked about a character he would like added in. Dimps has stated that they would be willing to add characters in later updates within Xenoverse 2’s life cycle. A lot of fans have taken this as a statement that the wanted characters will be paid DLC possibly. Only time will tell how Dimps will take this outcry from fans towards the roster. Problem 2: Character Creation Character Creation was one of the selling points for the original Xenoverse and with its new added features, it still is for Xenoverse 2. But with new features, comes a lack of features many wanted.
The new complaint by people is not the Saiyan transformation, but the transformations of some of the other races. Mainly the Majin race. “The Majin Boo transformation. You literally turn into Kid Boo.” said twitter user @2000lolguy when asked about his main problem with Xenoverse 2 so far. While many characters keep movesets they already have or change to an alternate moveset, the Majin transformation gives you the attacks of Kid Boo. Along with the fact that it turns your created character into Kid Boo, just a different color. The disappointment from this is enough to drive fans away from Majins to make their characters another race. With many problems in the way of its path to success, fans still seem to agree that it will be a good game. There has been worse and there has been better. Xenoverse 2 will most likely be looked upon as a good game, but a possibly failed sequel based on fans’ current reactions.
